This 8 course Renaissance lute is actually a composite lute consisting of the body and neck of an older German lute made by Reither, combined with the new sound board and bridge made by R. E. Brune (ca. 1985). The fingerboard was replaced to carry tied frets instead of the metal frets originally installed and the instrument now plays as a very traditional historically accurate lute. The 625 mm scale allows tuning to łG˛ and the pegs work very well. A form fitted original German case is included with this lute. If you are a guitarist looking to get into playing a reasonably accurate historical lute without radically altering your technique, this is the instrument for you.
