From O'Hare International Airport
Take I 294 North toward MilwaukeeAfter the first tool booth, exit on Dempster St. East . Stay on Dempster for approximately 6 miles, and then turn left on Elmwood Street .Go one block to the stop sign, and turn right on Greenwood Street . 800 Greenwood is the last building on the right side of the street. Entrance for the shop is on the right (West) side of the building right next to the archway with my sign. From I 94 (coming either from Chicago or Milwaukee ) Exit on Dempster Street East
From Chicago via Lake Shore Drive
Take Lake Shore Drive northbound. ( Lake Michigan will be on your right).
Stay in right hand lanes approaching Hollywood so you can turn right to continue northbound on what is now Sheridan Road (Lake Michigan will still be on your right, occasionally visible between high rise condominiums).
Stay in the right lanes and note signs directing you northbound on Sheridan Road . In Evanston , Sheridan Road becomes a rather small residential street bordered by stately mansions. At traffic light intersection of Dempster Street , turn left (West) on Dempster (Approximately 1 mile after entering Evanston )
Continue several blocks west on Dempster until you pass underneath a viaduct, then, at next intersection, turn right at the traffic light to go north on Elmwood. Go one block to the stop sign, and turn right on Greenwood.
800 Greenwood is located on the far right hand side of the block. Entrance for the shop is on the right (West) side of the building right next to the Iron Gate with my sign.
From Midway Airport via Public Transportation
Take the Orange line north and transfer to the Red line at any convenient transfer location (Note maps in train). Follow the above directions for traveling via the Red line to my shop. This is a long train ride that will take several hours, and is not particularly recommended.
From O'Hare via Taxi
Please note that if you take a Taxi from O'Hare (which is technically part of the City of Chicago ), the Taxis waiting at the cab stands will charge a surcharge for taking you to Evanston , since they are forbidden by law to pick up fares in Evanston on their way back to O'Hare. You are better off to call an Evanston based taxi such as the 303 Cab Co. (847) 256-0303, and arrange for them to pick you up outside the baggage claim area of O'Hare. By doing this you will also avoid all the long lines at the cab stands. They usually have a cab stationed at O'Hare just for pick-ups such as this.
Taxi from Midway
In theory you could take a Taxi from Midway, but the ride is so long and slow, it would probably be much cheaper to rent a car and drive yourself.
In general, travel times around Chicago vary widely, depending on the time of day, traffic, and weather conditions, not to mention seasonal construction and special events, so it is a good idea to allow more time than you think necessary to negotiate the Chicago area expressways. Several of the radio stations such as AM 780 have very frequent traffic reports, which are usually fairly accurate. Our shop is very easy to find, and we are located in a very nice area only blocks from the very heart of downtown
